Women’s Wellness Visits & PAP Exams

Naturopathic Gynecology and Women’s Health

Gynecological exams and PAP tests are an important part of any woman’s health care. Having a thorough examination can identify health concerns and provide information for early detection of various diseases.

Naturopathic doctors are trained and licensed to perform regular Pap smears as well as pelvic and breast exams.

As naturopathic doctors, we believe you should feel comfortable with these exams so that you don’t put them off. We offer these exams in a welcoming, warm and caring environment in which you will feel respected and safe. (And most patients prefer this type of experience in their naturopathic clinic!)

Why book your gynecological and PAP exam with an ND?

These examinations are easy to put off and avoid, but it is important to make your health a priority. Naturopathic gynecological exams are quite popular because we strive to make your experience comfortable and educational.

We also offer a holistic approach to common gynecological concerns, such as:

  • Hormone imbalances
  • PMS
  • Menstrual cramps and pain
  • Yeast infections
  • Cervical dysplasia
  • Fibrocystic breasts
  • Menopausal symptoms
  • Fertility concerns
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Pelvic pain
  • Fibroids and cysts

We can perform Pap smears and breast exams during any appointment, but we also hold dedicated Women’s Wellness Visit days. This allows you to schedule an annual visit with one of our naturopathic doctors that includes:

  • A complete breast exam
  • Full gynecological exam and PAP test

Contact our clinic at 905-852-2929 to find out when our next dedicated Women’s Wellness Visit days are.

What can you expect?

At True Roots Healthcare, we offer thorough, comfortable pelvic exams for women.

There are three parts to the gynecological exam:

  1. External examination, including both visual and physical assessment. This allows us to make sure that there is nothing of concern on the external genitalia (ex: moles, rashes, cysts, etc.)
  2. Speculum examination to perform a Pap smear and swab for cultures. At this time, the vaginal walls and cervix can be visualized to ensure everything appears healthy.
  3. Bimanual examination, which is used to assess the health of your uterus and ovaries through palpation of these structures.

During all three parts, you will be educated on what we are doing, why, and what our findings are. At the end of the assessment, we will come up with a treatment plan for your concerns.

A clinical breast exam may also be performed if you have any concerns regarding the health of your breasts. We also offer self-breast exam education so you can feel confident in your own examination technique.

Are you due for a PAP or breast exam? Don’t delay – book your appointment by calling 905-852-2929.
